What is NIMCET ?
National Institutes of Technology are Institutes of National Importance and are Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, is a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission to their Master of Computer Applications programme. Candidates have to clear the NIMCET MCA exam with a good rank, and based on their ranks they will be allotted seats at various campuses of NITs. Around 25,000 students register for NIMCET each year and approximately 805 seats are offered in 9 NITs across India. Many universities and institutes other than NITs consider NIMCET scores for admissions to the MCA programmes offered by them.
NIMCET Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be an Indian citizen
Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale in case of SC/ ST) in (i) BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum three years full-time with Mathematics/Statistics/Equivalent subject as one of the subjects from a recognized University.
SC/ST candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale in (i) BSc/BSc (Hons)/BCA/BIT of minimum 3 years full-time with Mathematics/Statistics/Equivalent subject as one of the subjects from a recognized University.
Students with BE/B Tech or equivalent from a recognized University can appear for the exam.
Aspirants who will be appearing for the qualifying examination can also apply for NIMCET 2024
Aspirants who have completed or completed a degree in three years BSc / BSc(Hons)/BCA/ BIT from Open Universities can also apply provided their programme is approved by UGC / AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.
The percentages of marks / CGPA in the qualifying degree are to be calculated on the basis of marks / grade points obtained in all the subjects studied in all the years including languages, optional and additional subjects studied, if any. The aggregate of marks / grade points secured in all the subjects in all the years computed using this
method of calculation alone be considered by authority for deciding the NIMCET eligibility.
NIMCET Exam Pattern
The NIMCET 2024 exam will be conducted in online mode as a Computer Based Test. The question paper will have a total of 120 multiple-choice questions from the prescribed syllabus. Candidates can check below the detailed pattern of the NIMCET question paper.
